EverDawn's Home page

I would like to encourage you to help build the asbs web site. consider that since the freeze of ash.xanthia.com, the asbs web site is, as far as I know, the largest pro-choice-suicide web site which is still "alive". With this comes the responsibility to provide up-to-date information about our community and about pro-choice issues. We should strive to build the site further both in quantity and quality.

IMO, contributing to the web site is a relatively easy yet powerful way to contribute to our community. Consider how much research is being done for the prevention of suicide. How many books, journals and web sites are dedicated to that topic, and how little information there is, in comparison, about our point of view.

My hope is that the asbs community becomes more involved in helping update and maintain the site, depending of course upon the interests and capabilities of members. I hope that introducing the ability of any asbs-er to add pages to the asbs web site, is a step in that direction.

About Me

Actually, I don't usually talk about myself. There isn't much to say. I like to write and do "research" about suicide. When I was in highschool, I didn't understand why suicide was such a taboo topic. I thought that anti-suicide arguments are pretty weak. Years later, I wound up writing the "Debate" FAQ, and I have been writing ever since, even though I was a pretty crappy writer at highschool. But I think I was bad then just because they didn't give us anything intersting to write about...

If I wanted to write another page I would simply add a link like EverDawnAnotherPage and click on the question mark next to it. Sadly, I don't really write poems. Actually, I don't read them much as well. I am just not into poetry. I don't get it. I recall I wrote a "poem" in the style of Dr Seuss, but I don't remember where it is. Maybe it went something like:

Dr. Seusside
...
Not in a crash, and not with a gash,
not with a pill and not from a hill...
...

you get the idea...

What I might be up to soon.

Actually, if I have the time, I might write about SuicideAndAuthenticity which is really what interests me most lately, due to some courses I have taken. One course is Landmark Forum which is an LGAT (Large Group Awareness Training) and the other is Vipassana, a form of meditation.

I also have to update the "debate" section. Somebody pointed out to me that Montesquieu's 76'th persian letter, is a comprehensive defense of the right to suicide.

He addresses the "duty to society" argument this way:

"Why am I required to work for a society from which I consent to be excluded, and to submit against my will to a convention which was made without my participation? Society is founded upon mutual advantage; when it grows burdensome to me, what should keep me from renouncing it? Life was given to me as a favour, so I may abandon it when it is one no longer"

Montesquieu, Persian Letter no. 76, translated by C.J. Betts, Penguin Books 1993

Another project is about AshMediaCoverage.

Also I think we need to deal with copyrights somehow. I like the Creative Commons licsense.

A long time since I edited this the last time. Just checking that it works
