About the Web Board and ASBS:

The newsgroups are now overrun by trolls, stopping many people from posting there. I am one of them. I wanted a place to post. So upon getting the URL and web space, I looked into the feasibility of an on-site board for member posts that would provide the safest place for ASHers to post without fear of being attacked for our philosophy, nor mocked for stating our true thoughts and feelings about our lives and being suicidal. Read the ASBS Terms of Use *very carefully*. If there is anything you cannot agree to, this might not be the best place for you. Please Note: This forum is provided for the discussion of suicide, depression, anxiety and related topics by those who have relevant personal experience. For legal reasons the discussion of suicide methods is strictly prohibited. This site will continue to be updated and improved upon, making ASBS a place where depressed or suicidal people can come to talk openly without the stigma and judgement so often found in the outside world. Many of us have had negative experiences in talking with therapists.... here we find support with others who intrinsically understand our feelings of pain, anger, outrage and hopelessness. Please also look through the extensive library and research that is also posted on this site. Do not rush to judge our position until you take the time to find out what we are *really* about. The traditional methods of therapy and meds cannot possibly replace the understanding we get from one another. We welcome others to our community who need a place to share and just be around others sharing similar experiences and thoughts. Please also check out the IRC page to find out about our channel, where many of us gather to discuss, laugh and support one another. If you are a voyeur, a "do-gooder" wanting to save us, a grad student looking for a paper, a dissertation sample group or a tabloid article or a "journalist" looking to sensationalize this into a quick story and expoit the group and its members.... leave us in peace.
